Love Continues to Click into Place at Lake Murray Dam

It originated in Europe, but all over the country "Love Locks" have been popping up as a way to eternalize a memory or message of love -- including at the Lake Murray Dam.

Lexington, SC (WLTX) -- It originated in Europe, but all over the country "Love Locks" have been popping up as a way to eternalize a memory or message of love -- including at the Lake Murray Dam.

On Sunday, Chapin High juniors Sarah Bauerlin and Wesley Moore decided to commemorate their one-year anniversary by joining the hundreds of others who hung a lock at the dam.

The couple's story began when Bauerlin moved to Chapin and went on a class trip to Disney World.

"Our groups happened to run across each other which is crazy because my group literally didn't see anybody we knew the entire time," said Bauerlin.

Wesley, however, admits it may not have been such a coincidence after all.

"Meeting a new person, I wanted to find out more about her so I kind of stuck with their group maybe more intentionally than it turned out," said Moore while Bauerlin began to laugh.

A year later, the two are inseparable and freqently visit the lake. They say they decided to make their anniversary special by incorporating the place that holds a lot of good memories.

"It feels good to know that the memories stay around throughout the years and hopefully we can come back and share again what we've put up," said Moore.

"Even if it hasn't been a whole lifetime, it hasn't been very long, it will always be memorable to me," said Bauerlin.

The two plan on trying to find their lock among the others during future anniversaries and say it's neat to be a part of something like this.
