COLUMBIA, S.C. — Part of Millwood Avenue has reopened, according to the Columbia Police Department, after a large police presence on scene Tuesday afternoon.
Millwood Avenue at the 1100 block of Fairview Drive was closed off to pedestrian & vehicular traffic Tuesday afternoon as police responded to a "mental health-related emergency" on Fairview Drive. Additional specialized police units & partner agencies responded to the scene as a precaution.
Police said there was no immediate threat to the public and no evacuations at the time.
As of 3:34 pm, police said mental health-related emergency was resolved, and a man believed to be in mental crisis will receive medical treatment.
