LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A person is dead after being struck three times on a Lexington County road on Thursday evening, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crashes happened around 7:17 p.m. Thursday on US 178 near Washboard Road, three miles north of Pelion.
According to troopers, and unknown vehicle traveling west on US 178 struck a pedestrian in the road and then left the scene. A second unknown vehicle traveling east on US 178 then struck the pedestrian and also left the scene. A 2009 Chevrolet sedan traveling east then struck the pedestrian a third time.
The pedestrian died at the scene, according to officials.
The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
