ORANGEBURG, S.C. — A pedestrian is dead in Orangeburg County after being struck by a car on Monday night, according to troopers with SC Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at 9:28 pm Monday on US 601 near Magnolia Street, approximately one mile north of Orangeburg.
Troopers say the driver of a 2019 Hyundai Sonata was traveling south on US 601 when it struck a pedestrian crossing the road.
The pedestrian is deceased. The driver of the Sonata, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to a local hospital.
