Internal VA documents show the depth of fraudulent scheduling, manipulation of data and in some cases intimidation of staff to hide delays in medical care to veterans in the 6-million patient national system.

South Carolina veterans can now get information about health care and benefits by tuning into Dorn VET Radio, launched this week by the VA on the Dorn VA Medical Center Facebook page.

"Of special interest to South Carolinians is that most of the content is local in nature," said host Kevin Lee McIver, who is a public affairs officer at Dorn.

The show focuses on the medical center and the VA's seven outpatient clinics which provide care for about 80,000 veterans a year, he said.

And the Facebook format facilitates access for information on-the-go which is important in today's mobile environment, said co-host and public affairs specialist Chris Conklin.

"The pre-recorded show provides unique information access for our South Carolina veterans, families, employees, veteran service organizations, community partners and the public — including those individuals with low-vision who rely on audio format for their news," said medical center director Timothy B. McMurry.

The inaugural show featured information on personnel, flu shots, health tips and patient education classes, among other topics.
