Jonathan Pinson's defense attorneys worked hard to discredit one of the prosecution's star witnesses -- Richard Zahn -- on Wednesday as his federal corruption trial continued.

Pinson is the former SC State Board Chair facing 52 counts for his alleged involvement in illegal activities.

Zahn, a wealthy Florida businessman, plead guilty for his involvement in the alleged scheme surrounding a piece of property he owns called the Sportmens Retreat. According to Zahn's testimony, Pinson was to receive a Porsche Cayenne if he was able to persuade SC state to buy the property from Zahn.

Prosecutors have introduced over a hundred wire tapped phone calls from Pinson's phone, and in one played on Wednesday with Zahn, the court heard Pinson say "Hey, you just help me get a Porsche Cayenne baby."

Pinson's defense attorneys say the two men talked about the car before the Sportsmen Retreat deal and it was supposed to be part of his business partnership with Zahn on another deal in Columbia.

Pinson's lead attorney, Jim Griffin, immediatley started to discredit Zahn by pointing out false accomplishments on his former business biography and also pointed out discrepancies between his testimony and original statements made to the FBI when the investigation began in 2011.

Towards the end of the day, a couple of FBI agents testified due to the way they handled evidence and cataogued it to tie up some details.

It's unknown if the prosecution plans to call more witnesses to the stand, but they'll resume their case on Thursday morning.
