Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The swimming advisory for the Saluda River has been lifted.
State health officials warned against swimming in the water around Saluda Shoals Park due to bacteria levels in the area.
The agency cited a discharge at the Carolina Water Service Friarsgate facility and heavy rains over the weekend as possible reasons for those bacteria levels.
Tests performed in the area Wednesday show the levels are now fine for swimming.
People who use the Saluda and Congaree Rivers are encouraged to check Howsmyscriver.org before going into the water. The website provides updates on the water samples taken by the Lower Saluda River Coalition.
