COLUMBIA, S.C. — There's a new lady in town, and she's about to take over the Vista.
Local artist Cait Maloney is putting the final touches on her newest project, "Lady Vista," a mural set to debut on Gervais Street this spring.
The mural, which is filled bright colors and bold designs, has found it's home in the Vista betwen Park and Lincoln streets right by Motor Supply and Sure Fire Tacos.
When it comes to inspiration, Maloney says all she needed was the Vista itself.
"I wanted to capture the funky, fresh and colorful essence of the area into one image, so I took everything that I knew the Vista to be and boiled each aspect down into its own abstract representation,” Maloney said. “All of these elements together are what bring ‘Lady Vista’ to life.”
Itching to get a photo in front of this exciting addition to the Vista? Members of the Congaree Vista Guild and One Columbia for Arts & History, who both made the project possible, foresee endless Instagram posts in the mural's future.
“The mural is a true reflection of the vibrant culture within the Vista itself," said One Columbia Executive Director Lee Snelgrove. "We hope it will bring a smile to and leave a memory with all passersby to come.”
