Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies are searching for the person who shot and killed a Columbia mother of two over the weekend.
The incident took place at The Reserves at Faraway Terrace apartment complex around 2:30 a.m. off Faraway Drive.
According to the family, Nakya Scott was in a room with her boyfriend preparing to go to bed when she leaned over to get onto the mattress. That's when the bullet came from the wall hitting the 33-year-old and killing her.
Scott has two young children, who were down the hall when the shooting took place.
Shaunie Scott, Nakya's sister, says she's lost her baby sister.
"'[She] was life," Shaunie said. "If you were down she would call you out of your name and most people it would hurt your feelings but her it would make you laugh."
As the older sister, Scott spent a lot of her younger years watching her baby sister.
"It's surreal because I'm getting used to her not being here," she said. "Life is precious and life is timeless and you have to value you life while you have it and that is what Nakya did everyday of her life. She lived as if it were her last day."
The Richland County Sheriff Department says there is no updates on the investigation. But they're hoping someone will come forward.
