School bus involved in crash in Lexington County, troopers confirm

Medical personnel screened the bus driver and all riders. Six students were transported for further medical evaluation.

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a school bus crash in Lexington County Tuesday afternoon.

While details are limited, troopers confirm the accident happened on US-321 outside Gaston, near the intersection of Woodcote Drive. 

According to officials with Lexington School District Two, a Lexington Two school bus transporting 36 students Tuesday from Wood Elementary on its afternoon route was involved in an accident, with a car hitting the side of the bus.

School and district administrators responded to the scene, along with Lexington County Fire and EMS, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Families of the student riders were notified.

Medical personnel screened the bus driver and all riders. Six students were transported for further medical evaluation. 

Those who were medically cleared at the scene were picked up by car to complete the ride home.
