Deputies: Man shoots employee at Lexington County business over dispute about service

The incident happened Thursday morning at a business in the 2300 block of Pond Branch Road.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Lexington County deputies arrested a man they say shot a store employee during a dispute about service.

Howard Fogle, 73, of Wagener is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The incident happened Thursday morning at a business in the 2300 block of Pond Branch Road, which is not far from the exit off Interstate 20. According to deputies, Fogle went to a business in that area to ask about the turnaround time on a job that the store was working on for him. Deputies said there was a back and forth exchange between Fogle and the employee and that Fogle pulled out a pistol and shot the employee multiple times.

The employee was taken to the hospital for treatment. Investigators said they have been told he will recover from the wounds.

Deputies said they were able to track Fogle to his home where they arrested him.

"Because of the service agreement between Fogle and the business, and the entire incident being on security cam, we immediately knew who he was," Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. "He drove away from the business after the shooting and went back to his home in Wagener."

Fogle was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center.
