Columbia, SC (WLTX) South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) will soon have a new way to track and capture criminals from the sky.
Thom Berry with SLED says the agency has purchased a new helicopter, an MD500.
The agencies previous four are more than 25 years old with some of them going back to the Vietnam Era.
The helicopter is expected to arrive and be in use by the end of the year.
No word on how much the new eye in the sky will cost, but Berry said they were authorized to spend up to $3.5 million.
