Stabbing wounds two at Richland County jail

Deputies say the inmates were unsupervised at the time of the incident.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Two men were wounded "in a violent altercation" at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Richland County last week, according to deputies. 

Richland County deputies say they responded to an assault at the detention center around 4 pm on Saturday, November 9. 

Upon arrival, deputies say they learned that inmates Joshua Bell, Fredrick Hunter and Willie Morton became involved "in a violent altercation" and attacked two other inmates. 

The investigation revealed that the inmates were unsupervised at the time of the incident, according to deputies.

During the assault, two inmates sustained stab wounds. One of the victims was transported to a local hospital for treatment; the second victim was treated at the jail.

Bell, Hunter and Morton are all charged with assault & battery high and aggravated in nature and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
