COLUMBIA, S.C. — The 154th South Carolina State Fair is back with 13 new treats to delight your taste buds.
We have “deep-fried twinkies, deep-fried brownies,” says Suzannah Cushman with Prowant Specialty Company.
Cushman's is one of 7 vendor serving up new treats at the state fair. Their hottest item is a pumpkin spice funnel cake.
“It goes great in the fall," Cushman said. "We usually start in August, and it seems really early, but people like pumpkin spice early.”
“Donut dog ... it’s a homemade long john we put in donut, bacon, and homemade icing on top," Dustin Hagy said.
You can enjoy mouth-watering Mexican street corn. Or, if you're looking for something savory, a dill pickle pizza is served fresh out of the oven at Spaghetti Eddies.
“It's interesting, my wife likes pickles. She eats pickles on everything, so we tried pickles on the pizza, and she said you need to try it, and it was unique, really interesting flavor but it didn’t go very well with the red sauce, so I put together a ranch parmesan cheese dressing to use for the sauce. We put mozzarella cheese on top with dill wheat spice,” said Eddie Porcelli, Owner of Spaghetti Eddies.
The South Carolina State Fair runs until October 22nd.
