Someone passing by spotted her body and called law enforcement and emergency responders.

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — The Lexington County Coroner's office has released new details in the death of a woman found dead along Interstate 20 last week.

Coroner Margaret Fisher said an autopsy conducted Monday showed 22-year-old Stephanie Chanel Quintana died of blunt force trauma after being struck by a car around 12:30 a.m. on February 2.  The autopsy was conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Quintana was found dead on the shoulder of I-20 near the 62 mile marker, which is between the exits to Sunset Boulevard and Bush River Road. Someone passing by spotted her body and called law enforcement and emergency responders at around 7:15 Friday morning.

The coroner's office said the vehicle that struck Quintana hasn't been identified. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances leading to her death.

According to social media posts from friends and family Quintana was originally from California and her family is working to get her body transpored back home.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, or the Lexington County Coroner's Office.
