CAMDEN, S.C. — The holiday spirit is alive and well in the City of Camden as residents and visitors partake in the ongoing "12 Days of Christmas" festivities.
Katharine Spadacenta, Main Street Manager for the City of Camden, says this annual event offers a plethora of opportunities for the community to immerse themselves in the joy of the season.
"We started organizing the different events in and around Camden into what we like to call the 12 Days of Christmas," says Spadacenta.
The event, which commenced last Thursday, will continue until December 11th, with additional events scheduled beyond that date.
Spadacenta highlighted the variety of experiences the community can enjoy, including parades, performances, late-night shopping, and pop-up markets.
"See parades, see performances, shop, merchants stay open on certain evenings late extend their hours, their pop-up markets. It's an amalgam of all of the different events that individual businesses, organizations, and other groups have going on those 12 days leading up to Christmas," she adds.
One of the highlighted events is the Holiday Market at the Arts Center in Camden. Dolly Patton, Executive Director of the Arts Center of Kershaw County, described the market as a hub for those seeking the perfect holiday gifts locally.
"We have 30 artists and a huge variety of artwork and craftsmen's work. It provides a shopping opportunity for the community, it's a wonderful way to promote artisans and craftsmen, and it raises money for the Arts Center,".
In addition to the market, the Arts Center is hosting performances of "Elf" and Reggie Sullivan and his group presenting "A Charlie Brown Christmas."
