EASTOVER, S.C. — A youth basketball league based in Eastover is providing opportunities for youth through the game of basketball.
For more than two decades, the East Columbia Basketball League in Eastover has provided growth and development for kids ranging from the ages 4-17.
The league was started as a way to keep the kids safe and engaged in sports.
Lydia Overton, who is the League Coordinator, says the league promotes leadership, teamwork, and responsibility.
"We want to make sure that we are keeping our kids involved and active, make sure that we are teaching them life skills through basketball." Overton said.
The league consists of over 30 teams and they play their games at either Caughman Road Park or Hopkins Park.
"We have a lot of male guidance who some kids who don't receive male guidance everyday are able to connect with young adults as well as female adults." Overton says. "We just want to strengthen our community."
