IRMO, S.C. — The Irmo Fire District responded when a tree fell on a house this morning on Eastview Drive in Irmo.
Dominion Energy was called after realizing the tree pulled down power lines.
The homeowner’s sister spoke to Street Squad about the unfortunate timing of this damage, “This house has been in my family for 30 something years. My mom passed away and left it to us. And then my sister moved in to the home with her 17 year old daughter because her husband got sick and they didn’t know what was wrong with him. They found out it was esophageal cancer and within 6 months, he passed away.”
She went on to tell us soon after her sister lost her husband, she also lost her job with the state when they closed down her office.
“She had to get a retail job getting as many hours as she can," the sister of the residents continued. "You know, trying to be a parent. Then, this fell on the home.”
The woman who lives here left for work around 9 a.m. Her daughter had been at her grandfather's and when he came to drop her off around 11:30 a.m. they noticed the huge pine tree on top of the home.

The woman and her daughter are going to stay with family while they work on figuring out the next steps on repairing their home.
“We have each other and we’re thankful for that. And although we have had losses, we know that God is in control," the resident's sister said. "It may be a little set back but it won’t be forever.”
