KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — The Kershaw County Coroner's Office has released the name of a 25-year-old man who died in a hunting accident on Saturday afternoon.
According to Coroner David West, authorities received a call around 3 p.m. on Saturday regarding a missing hunter. The family later found the hunter, identified as 25-year-old Dalton Jordan, off Flat Rock Road. Authorities said he was pronounced dead at the scene of an apparent gunshot wound.
While details of the incident are still limited, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said this hunting accident was isolated and involved only one person. The organization extended its condolences to the hunter's family.
Coroner West said an autopsy is planned for Monday at Newberry Medical Center.
