“In our project, we wanted to focus on a project that would impact the community and something people would be proud of, and we wanted to reflect the community," Patton said. "The Mt. Pisgah area is a very important location in Kershaw County. A fabulous community group, the people there re-claimed their school and are doing wonderful services for the community - food services and health services - and we felt like we could provide something to beautify the school.”

Local artist Colt Shirley has spent almost 2 weeks bringing the community's vision to life, showcasing what's important to them.

“The ram and athletics were always a part of the school and community," Patton said. "Church, there's two very important churches, so that's why one of the panels has a church. Kershaw County is a rural county and all kinds of farming occurred in that area.”

The mural will be officially unveiled on December 2.
