KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — Kershaw County is seeking community input on Zoning and Land Development Regulations and their Comprehensive Plan.
"The comprehensive plan will be a 10-year outlook it's basically the county's future vision, what do we want to look like in certain areas," says the director of Kershaw County's Planning and Zoning Joey Adams-Raczkowiski.
The questionnaire asks a range of ten topics including growth and transportation.
"Kershaw County most recently updated their comprehensive plan in 2017, and we are finding the development that we are experiencing is not reflective well," Adams-Raczkowski adds.
They will then take the feedback and put it into their comprehensive plan, and to help rewrite zoning and land regulations, those regulations will focus on subdivisions, zoning, and sign ordinances.
"What we're struggling with is the amount of housing development that we are seeing, the quality of housing development we are using so those are things we will be zeroing in on as we update policy and regulation, over the past year, we've approved 5 new subdivisions that would equate to about 1,000 new lots," he adds.
Those projects approved do not include ones already under construction.
"We want to see what their opinion is of the future vision for Kershaw County," he adds.
The survey is available online through the summer.
The county is also planning a roundtable discussion with several focus groups, and the planning commission tomorrow, that meeting takes place at 2:30 at 95 Innovation Way in Camden.
