Kershaw County officials report brush fire under control

Authorities warn smoke will likely remain for some time.

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — A brush fire in Kershaw County is under control, but smoke will likely remain, officials said on Thursday.

Kershaw County Fire Service said the fire is in the 400 block of Mt. Olivet Road and has burned roughly 10 acres of grass and forested area. Kershaw County Fire Service said its crews are assisting the Camden Fire Department and the South Carolina Forestry Commission.

Authorities said that while they consider the fire under control, smoke will likely remain for "the next couple of days."

Kershaw County Fire Service reported no injuries in the fire. The cause has not been released.
