LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have released the name of a 46-year-old Pelion woman who died in a Lexington County crash on South Lake Drive that also wounded three other people on Saturday.
Corporal Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 9:20 a.m. on South Lake Drive near Bluefield Road and involved two vehicles. Pye said a 2016 Dodge van was heading west on South Lake Drive, and a 2019 Dodge pickup truck was heading east when the two vehicles collided.
Authorities said the driver of the van, later identified as Virginia Ellen Burtle, was taken to an area hospital and died from injuries she sustained in the crash. Two van passengers and the truck's driver were also taken to area hospitals.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
