BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. — Dominion Energy says most power is back online for the Batesburg-Leesville area following what town officials described as a crash that took out a main transmission line.

As of 10 p.m., Dominion Energy outage maps showed roughly 1,400 customers in and around the town without electricity - down from an earlier 2,100. However, that number shrank to almost none before 10:30 p.m.

The town said another planned outage would occur around 1:30 a.m. to complete needed repairs. A Dominion Energy spokesperson said customers may still experience issues as crews continue their work in the area.

The town's mayor, Lancer Shull, said the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 23. He said the day's weather had slowed repairs.
