KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — Plants are blooming again in the North Central High School greenhouse for the first time in 3 years.
Everything from basil to tomatoes and even pansies and petunias.
"The greenhouse was put up a few years before I think it was two years before the tornado first hit. When the tornado hit we moved to our temporary location where the greenhouse wasn't utilized and at the temporary location we didn't really have an outdoor location so having the greenhouse has been a whole new experience for these students," says agriculture teacher at North Central High School, Amanda Poole.
She's welcomed back FFA (Future Farmers of America) students back to the greenhouse in hopes of showing students how to grow vegetables and plants.
"We started out with plant science unit in Ag-Science and that's kinda where this all got incorporated they started out with these tiny little seeds and now they have all of this," she adds.
Now the final touches are being put on the plants before they go up for sale.
"All of the proceeds for the plant sale go back to supporting our students, to fund them going on trips, conventions, camps, them getting their FFA jackets so it all goes back to the students," she adds.
The North Central High School FFA plant sale takes place April 6 & 7th from 12-5 pm at the North Central High School greenhouse.
