CORDOVA, S.C. — Evelyn Jones Eaddy will celebrate her 106th birthday on Thanksgiving.

Miss Eaddy was born on November 23, 1917, in the town of Andrews, South Carolina and went to high school in Lake City.

Eaddy says that she is most thankful for her faith over the years.

"I thank the good Lord, I praise the good Lord for everything,” said Eaddy. “Oh it's been a time but thank God's love."

Marie Oliver is Eaddy's daughter and says her mom's legacy lives on throughout the family.

"The legacy that my mom is going to leave is keep the family together that is her legacy,” said Oliver. “Continue to fellowship together on occasions and be together and love one another. But to keep the family together and continue to pray and be strong in the Lord."

Orangeburg County officials presented Eaddy with a resolution in honor of her 106th birthday.

County Councilman Kenneth McCaster said this birthday is meaningful to the community.

"One hundred and six is a long way and anybody that reached that type of mark must truly be blessed by God,” said McCaster. “So we think its so important that anyone that reaches that type of age of 106 must be doing something right so it's very important that we come out and celebrate her."
