Driver dead in early morning Orangeburg County crash near Holly Hill, SCHP reports

The crash involved a Honda minivan that left the road, hit a culvert, flipped and struck a tree.

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that happened early Sunday morning outside of Holly Hill.

According to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway, the crash happened around 3 a.m. on Wildol Street near White Sands Road - just under two miles west of Holly Hill. Ridgeway said the victim was driving a 2006 Honda minivan east on Wildol Street when the van left the road on the right side, hit a culvert, overturned and struck a tree.

Ridgeway said the driver died at the scene of the crash and deferred to the Orangeburg County Coroner's Office for additional information about the deceased. No other people or injuries are mentioned in the statement.

The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.
