ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Two drivers are dead and a passenger injured after a head-on interstate crash in Orangeburg County, authorities say.
Master Trooper Gary Miller with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 4:20 a.m. along I-26 east near the 159-mile marker -- about five miles east of Bowman. Miller said a Honda Odyssey van was heading west on I-26 in the eastbound lane when it struck a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria.
The drivers of both vehicles died, and the passenger of the Ford was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina Orangeburg Hospital for treatment.
Miller deferred to the coroner's office for information about the victims. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
