ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Fire officials say several crews responded on Saturday morning to a home where a fire caused severe damage.
The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety said the fire was on Bayne Street. The first crews arrived within five minutes of receiving the call and found the home already burning heavily. Despite a second-floor collapse, fire officials said that no injuries were reported at the home.
Crews brought the fire under control with help from fire departments in Cordova, Bolentown, Rowesville, Four Holes, Orangeburg County, Jamison and Canaan. However, officials said it took hours to fully extinguish the blaze.
Authorities haven't said exactly what caused the fire. However, officials believe it was accidental. The American Red Cross has already been contacted to help the family impacted by the fire.
