ORANGEBURG, S.C. — A St. Matthews-area man is facing charges, including attempted murder, following a Sunday confrontation in Orangeburg, police say.
According to arrest warrants secured by the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety, Tyrek Di'Kwane Givens faces charges of second-degree domestic violence, attempted murder and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon stemming from an attack on two victims at an address near the intersection of Chestnut Street and Columbia Road.
Investigators said he punched one victim several times, broke her nose and left a cut on her face. The warrants stated that Givens then got into an argument with the victim's cousin before shooting him. Both victims left the location to get medical treatment.
Warrants stated that Givens is prohibited from having a handgun based on his past criminal history.
An incident report from the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety said that Givens arrived at its headquarters on Monday morning, where he was detained in handcuffs and interviewed.
