ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Orangeburg authorities have discovered a man's body after a search on Friday night.
The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety said officers were notified around 8 p.m. on Friday of a missing person they had contact with the previous night near Stonewall Jackson Boulevard. A police spokesperson said emergency services responded and searched the area, eventually finding a deceased man in the area of Stonewall Jackson Boulevard between Glover Street and U.S. 301.
Authorities didn't share the victim's cause or manner of death, and the Orangeburg County Coroner's Office hasn't released his name. The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety is still investigating the death. A statement from the agency didn't specify whether the body that search crews found was the person they were searching for.
The news comes a day after the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office confirmed the death of a missing woman, 66-year-old Valerie Goff, who left Cordova heading for a store in Orangeburg but reportedly never arrived. Later, Authorities found her vehicle in flood waters in the area of Glover and Andrew Dibble streets. The Orangeburg County Coroner's Office confirmed her death.
