ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say one person has died following an early morning crash in Orangeburg County.
Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 8 a.m. on U.S. 178 (Charleston Highway), roughly five miles north of Bowman.
Bennett said the crash happened when a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer that was heading west on the highway ran off the road to the right, hit a tree, came back on the road and then went off the left side of the the road. The driver died at the scene.
Authorities deferred to the Orangeburg County Coroner's Office regarding details about the victim's identity. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
