ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say they have identified the parents of a small child found in Orangeburg County on Sunday morning.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in a statement that the child, believed to be about three years old, was located by patrol deputies in the Roosevelt Gardens area, which is off Magnolia Street, around 10 a.m.
The sheriff added that they had spoken with "three dozen people" but said that no one could identify the child.
Just after 4:30 p.m., a sheriff's office spokesperson shared an update by email that the child's parents had been "identified and located" and that the sheriff's office is still investigating how the child came to be found without a caregiver or supervision.
Neither the child's identity nor the names of his parents have been released at this time.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as they become available.
