Orangeburg County crash leaves one dead, one hospitalized

The crash happened around 11 p.m. on Friday.

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities are investigating a deadly crash that also sent one person to the hospital on Friday night.

Lance Corporal Brittany Glover with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 11 p.m. on U.S. 301 (Five Chop Road) near Homestead Road in Orangeburg County.

Glover said a 2008 Honda Accord was heading south on U.S. 301 when it traveled off the right side of the road and hit a ditch and utility pole before overturning. One victim died at the scene, and the other was taken to an area hospital for treatment. That person's condition was not listed.

Authorities deferred any additional questions about the identity of the deceased to the Orangeburg County Coroner's Office. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
