ORANGEBURG, S.C. — The Blue Bird Theatre in downtown Orangeburg will be hosting several holiday performances, including the South Carolina Ballet Company in December.
Attendees will be able to experience an intimate performance of William Starrett's Frosty the Snowman and excerpts from The Nutcracker.
Blue Bird Theatre Building Manager Randy Etters says the ballet will give locals something fun to do for the holidays.
"Yeah, we're very excited about the ballet comin. It marks a milestone for the life of the Blue Bird that we're able to bring in a quality performance that the South Carolina Ballet has to offer," Etters said. "It's trying to keep people local as opposed to them getting their holiday experiences by having to drive forty miles one way or sixty miles the other way."
Etters says that this opportunity is a big deal for the theatre.
"It gives our audience the opportunity to see something that they would not see in such an intimate venue,” Etters said. “And we know that the ballet is a very popular form of entertainment because the Orangeburg Civic Ballet here in Orangeburg has amazing crowds for their annual performance of the nutcracker and some of their other shows."
The South Carolina Ballet will be performing at the Blue Bird Theatre on Saturday, December 2.
