ORANGEBURG, S.C. — One person was treated for smoke inhalation, but no injuries were reported after a sizeable house fire that happened early Saturday morning in Orangeburg.
The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety said its fire crews, along with help from the Jamison and Cordova fire departments, were called to a house fire on Pineland Street. Crews arrived about seven minutes after the call and found a home burning heavily, with a portion already collapsed.
Officials said crews began defensive fire operations as emergency medical services took one occupant from the scene due to smoke inhalation. The department said the American Red Cross is assisting the resident. Authorities didn't release the possible cause of the fire.
