ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Orangeburg County will soon have a new elementary school and officials are asking the public to weigh in on the mascot and school colors.
The Orangeburg County School District was awarded $40 million from the South Carolina Department of Education to build a new Robert E. Howard Elementary School.
The current Robert E. Howard Middle School will be demolished and replaced with a new, state-of-the-art elementary school with students from Brookdale, Mellichamp and Whittaker elementary schools.
Now, district officials want the public to help them pick a mascot and school colors for the new Robert E. Howard Elementary School.
In a Facebook post, district officials said:
"Robert E. Howard Elementary School is coming soon, and we’re inviting YOU to help shape its identity!
Vote for our new mascot and school colors! Your opinion matters and will be a lasting part of our school’s legacy. The survey is open until November 30th, so don’t miss your chance to make an impact!"
