SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — A man has died after a car accident last month on the Wateree Bridge in Sumter.
According to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker, the accident only involved a single car and happened just after midnight on March 21.
Initial reports indicate that Jarrod Skidmore, 39, of Richland County, was driving west in the east bound lanes before striking a set of concrete barriers that had been set in place for the ongoing bridge repairs.
Skidmore was pronounced dead at the Augusta Burn Center in Georgia from a result of the injuries in the crash. Next of kin has been notified.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office will continue to investigate.
