SUMTER, S.C. — Authorities are investigating a shooting after a person arrived at an area hospital and later died.
Sumter County law enforcement has not yet established the location where the shooting occurred, but Coroner Robbie Baker said the 35-year-old male victim was dropped off at Prisma Health Tuomey just before 8 p.m. on Saturday. The victim was pronounced dead around 8:40 p.m. He said the victim had an apparent gunshot wound.
Baker deferred to law enforcement for additional details about what may have led up to the shooting. Authorities are still working to determine further information.
