SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — The Sumter County Coroner's Office has identified an 88-year-old man who was found dead late Sunday following a fire.
Coroner Robbie Baker said Willie Brown Jr. died on the scene of a camper fire in the 3400 block of Hill Road. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at the Medical University of South Carolina to determine his official cause of death.
Sumter Fire and the Sumter County Sheriff's Department are investigating the fire. Details regarding its cause weren't available as of Tuesday evening. Coroner Baker said the victim's next of kin were notified of his death.
