SUMTER, S.C. — Police have arrested a suspect in a deadly Friday night stabbing at a Sumter home.
Sumter Police said 37-year-old Marcus Antonio Shannon was at a gathering of friends at a home on King Street when he got into an argument and then a fight with the victim, 42-year-old Travis Roman. Police believe Shannon grabbed a knife and stabbed Roman in the home around 11:30 p.m. before walking away from the house. Roman was taken to Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital for treatment but later died, police said.
Police were initially looking for Shannon but announced around 9 a.m. on Saturday that officers had found him, and he was being booked into the county jail. He faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
