SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — Deputies are joining the Sumter County coroner in the investigation of a body found on Sunday afternoon.
According to a Sumter County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, the body was found sometime in the mid-afternoon off Highway 15 South near Clarendon County. Authorities said the body was found in a wooded area but didn't give the exact location due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
The sheriff's office hasn't released any details about the body or whether the person was male or female. Authorities hope to provide additional information on Monday.
