SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — A Sumter County woman was struck by a vehicle over the weekend and died on Monday, according to authorities.
31-year-old Candace Dicks died at Prisma Health Richland on Monday, according to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker.
Dicks died from injuries sustained when she was struck by a vehicle on US Highway 401/ Oswego Hwy near Farmingdale Road, approximately 2 miles west of Mayesville, around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to authorities.
Troopers with South Carolina Highway Patrol say a 2018 GMC pickup was traveling south on U.S. 401. The pedestrian was in the roadway, according to troopers, when she was hit by the pickup truck.
An autopsy will be performed on Thursday at The Medical University in Charleston. The Sumter County Coroner's office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.
The driver of the pickup truck, who was the sole occupant, was not injured, according to troopers.
The death comes after two other pedestrians were struck in killed in South Carolina over the weekend.
