SUMTER, S.C. — Authorities said on Thursday that they are concerned for the well-being of a man who was hit by a car in the early morning hours.
Sumter Police said the driver was heading south on South Guignard Drive near Green Swamp Road and contacted first responders after hitting the man around 5:45 a.m. Police said the man appeared to be stepping out of the road onto a curb when he was hit.
Police are now searching for the pedestrian to make sure he is OK. Police urge the person to call Sumter Police at 803-436-2700 or 911 if in need of emergency assistance.
