SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — Three Sumter School District schools have been dismissed early due to a power outage impacting them.

According to a statement posted by the school district, Kingsbury Elementary School, Millwood Elementary School and Sumter High School are all without power as of noon.

The school district said buses for Kingsbury and Millwood started running at 12:15 p.m., and buses for Sumter High School began operating at 12:45 p.m.

"Parents and guardians may begin picking up their children now," the school district said in a statement posted around noon.

The school district said Duke Energy is responding to restore power in the area. At 12:45 p.m., the utility reports roughly 380 customers without power in the Sumter County area - particularly in the Millwood community. Duke Energy says the cause to be fallen trees or limbs.
