KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — Tinsel Trail, an annual holiday spectacle hosted by Kershaw County Parks and Recreation, is lighting up the season with a unique twist on Christmas tree decorations.
The free event takes place nightly at Wateree Veterans Park from 5:30 pm-9:30 pm, where 7-foot Frasier Fir Christmas trees are adorned with non-traditional ornaments, showcasing the creativity of local businesses, non-profits, and schools.
Among the enchanted attendees are Jesse Smith and Taylor Richardson, Kershaw County residents who are captivated by the diverse designs gracing the festive landscape.
"He's going to say flamingos because flamingos are his favorite," shares Richardson.
Smith chimes in saying, "I'm a big flamingo guy. I think the pineapple is cool, it's different,".
Smith adds, "I think it's cool and good for the kids and the community,".
Rachel Sommer, Program Superintendent at Kershaw County Parks & Recreation, emphasizes the collaborative effort behind Tinsel Trail.
"It's a festive activity just for free for the community, bringing the community together, bringing awareness to different organizations we actually encourage people to do displays that are focused on the organization that represents it," she explains.
While the 60 trees that make up the display are eye-catching during the day, they truly come to life at night. "They are totally different experiences," Sommer adds. "Coming out at night is gorgeous, it is beautiful seeing all the light displays but if you want the details and the hard work, each of the organizations put into it definitely come out during the daytime,"
The lights are on daily until January 1st, They will have a movie night on December 15th at 6 pm where they will be showing The Santa Clause.
