Columbia, SC (WLTX) - News 19 is teaming up with the Salvation Army to help give families in need a Christmas to remember.
Major Benita Morris says we need your help for Stuff-A-Bus.
"In the Columbia area, the need is huge," explained Morris. "We are down this year with the Angel Tree and the toys coming in so we need the community to jump in. Even if they don't bring a toy, stop by and drop money into the kettle."
On Friday, December 1, you can come to several Walmart locations around the Midlands and donate toys, bikes, clothes and money to send a gift. Here are those locations:
Friday, December 1
Forest Drive - 5420 Forest Drive, Columbia
Orangeburg - 2795 North Road, Orangeburg
Lexington - 5556 Sunset Boulevard, Lexington
Manning - 2010 Paxville Highway, Manning
Dutch Fork - 1180 Dutch Fork Road, Irmo
Whatever items are donated, the Salvation Army matches them with a child's wish list so they can be delivered on Christmas morning.
"Seeing the faces of those kids that are the recipients of the toys and talking to the parents and the parents are really grateful for what they get," Morris said.
Last year, the Midlands donated over 92 thousand toys, 300 bikes and over three tons of food. This year, Salvation Army is hoping to help more families than ever before.
Morris wants you to keep in mind that what you give may be the only thing these kids may have under the Christmas tree.
"Go shopping and think about the fact that you'll be changing a life on Christmas," she said.
