Sumter, SC (WLTX)- Sumter Police are investigating a string of shootings in the south side of the city.

"Since January, we've had 9 shootings in a 10 block area," said Chief Russell F. Roark III.

Chief Roark says the latest shooting on King Street is captured on surveillance video.

Police are searching for 17-year-old Dominik Dingle of Sumter. Police intend to charge him with attempted murder, tampering with evidence, and unlawful carrying of a weapon following the shooting Saturday evening.

"I would say most of the individuals know eachother, they have intended targets. This is not random acts of violence. It is done intentionally to resolve some other type of dispute.

Dominik's mother contacted News19, telling us she the shooting was captured on her security camera. She says she put in the cameras because her home had been shot at several times. Chief Roark says he doesn't want to paint the city as a dangerous place but recognizes that 9 shootings since January is a problem that must be solved.
