One dead after golf cart, SUV collide in Lexington County

Troopers say the accident happened around 10:40 a.m. on Huckabee Mill Road near the intersection with Tickleweed Road, just north of Swansea.

SWANSEA, S.C. — One person is dead after a golf cart was struck in Lexington County on Wednesday morning.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the collision happened around 10:40 a.m. in the 600 block of on Huckabee Mill Road near the intersection with Tickleweed Road, just north of the town of Swansea. 

Troopers say a 2014 Ford Expedition SUV rear-ended a Club Car golf cart, which then overturned. 

Christopher Dean Hoffman, 51, of Swansea, who was driving the golf cart, died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the accident, according to the Lexington County Coroner's Office. 

Neither the driver nor the passenger of the SUV were injured. 

The accident remains under investigation by South Carolina Highway Patrol.
