CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. — Christina Floyd is more than just a Montessori teacher at Sandy Run K-8. In some respects she's also a book editor. Her class of first through third grade students have worked hard on a project that allows them all to be considered published authors.
Ms. Floyd says that it is her goal every day to make sure her students are moving forward. Benchmarks are important, but she says that the beauty in education is being able to meet a student where they are and helping them achieve their personal best.
Ms. Floyd has been an educator for more than 25 years. She began her career teaching students in special education classes. She says that experience prepared her to give her Montessori students what they need in individualized learning.
Ms. Floyd is from Romania and says that she considers herself a lifelong learner; always looking for ways to improve as a teacher.
If you know and educator like Ms. Floyd who deserves to be recognized for their hard work in the classroom, please nominate them for the News19 Teacher of the Week by emailing us at TOW@wltx.com. Make sure you tell us all the wonderful things your teacher does to go above and beyond in the classroom.
